Mindfulness Trainings Recitations are occasions for the whole community to come together and renew our aspiration. On the first Sunday of the month we recite the Two Promises and the Five Mindfulness Trainings, which are the foundation of happiness for the family and the individual. The recitation of the 14 Mindfulness Trainings (Order of Interbeing) is to be recited on the third Sunday of each month.
Introduction of the Five Mindfulness Trainings Recitation: The Five Mindfulness Trainings represent the Buddhist vision for a global spirituality and ethic. They are a concrete expression of the Buddha’s teachings on the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, the path of right understanding and true love, leading to healing, transformation, and happiness for ourselves and for the world. To practice the Five Mindfulness Trainings is to cultivate the insight of interbeing, or Right View, which can remove all discrimination, intolerance, anger, fear, and despair. If we live according to the Five Mindfulness Trainings, we are already on the path of a bodhisattva. Knowing we are on that path, we are not lost in confusion about our life in the present or in fears about the future.
Introduction of the Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings Recitation: The Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings are the very essence of the Community of Interbeing. They are the torch lighting our path, the boat carrying us, the teacher guiding us.
Note: The 2 Promises and the Five Mindfulness Trainings are to be recited on the 1st Sunday of each month and the 14 Mindfulness Trainings on 3rd Sunday of each month.
